Organized in 1899, The Wayne Band is one of the oldest community bands in Pennsylvania. Since its organization the band has played for every major, and a lot of minor, events throughout the history of Waynesboro, PA. The band is active year round, playing at least three public concerts and providing entertainment at nursing/retirement homes and patriotic events throughout the tri-state area. Currently directed by Daniel Deatrich, the band presently consists of over thirty musicians from high school through senior citizens. The band is supported in part by the Borough of Waynesboro. Weekly Monday rehearsals from 7:30 – 9:00 PM are held for the most part in the Council Chambers at the Town Hall, located on East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA. There is no audition, but new members are expected to be able to play high school level music. Instrumentalist wishing to join the band may contact Daniel Deatrich.
