The Institute is located at Rock Hill Farm. It represents the frontier lifestyle of the Welsh, Scots Irish, English and Pennsylvania Germans and serves as a regional center for the purpose of developing and fostering an awareness and understanding of the cultural and natural history of the Conococheague.

Hours The grounds are open every day from sunrise to sunset.~~~~~The Reference Library is open in the summer on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8-4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9-5 p.m. The interpretive library focuses on the colonial period. Although there are a few original letters and documents, the material is mainly in print and is historically oriented with items dating from the early 18th century to the present. There are about 4,000 books covering a wide range of subjects including diaries, travel logs, general histories, ethnic histories, religion, foods, clothing, early farming, gardens, Native Americans and more.

Directions From Rt. 11 at Greencastle, turn right onto Rt. 16 West. Travel through the village of Upton to 995 South (about 5 miles). Just past the sign for Whitetail, turn left on 995 South to Welsh Run (about 3 miles). Continue across the road past the Robert Kennedy Church and go 14 miles on 995 South. Turn left on Bain Road (shortly past the Welsh Run Brethren Church.) Travel .9 miles to the Conococheague Institute.
