The Museum House and Summer Kitchen will be open and free to the public for walk-through tours. Opening day will coincide with the kickoff of Renfrew’s Women Through History program that will run through June 30. The exhibit will reflect on the lives of the women who lived at Renfrew during the 1800 and 1900’s up through Emma Nicodemus. Renfrew will highlight the impact women had on history with their various jobs and duties.
The Women Through History exhibits are thanks to the generous loans that local families have provided us to help celebrate the woman in their families. These items will be displayed in the Museum House, Summer Kitchen, Visitor Center and in the Wagon Shed.
According to Kim Eichelberger, Renfrew’s Media Coordinator, “The community has embraced this program and have been more than willing to share their heirlooms and family stories with us. They have provided us family treasures that we look forward to sharing with the public during exhibit.” Renfrew is pleased to offer a variety of items for the exhibit. We have been loaned quilts, kitchen items, jewelry, sewing kits, samplers, dresses, books, photos, and coats to enhance the exhibit and guest experience in addition to sharing family memories and heirlooms.
Our opening day signifies the beginning of six exciting months at Renfrew when the Museum House will re-open, events have been planned and Saturday hours from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. will be added. Renfrew hosts tours and plan special events so that guests can enjoy the beauty of the park and appreciate the history that goes along with it. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the park and spend countless hours here representing the time period offering our guests the most authentic representation of the time period in which the Royer family lived here.
We have family friendly activities planned for 2017 and are pleased to offer the popular Summer Concert Series on Thursday nights between June through August. We have returning acts lined up and have added some new bands and solo acts to round out the Summer concert series.
Opening day is free of charge and open to the public.
