DOWNTOWN CHAMBERSBURG: Sunshine & Summertime Activities

Live music, shopping, movie screenings and more will brighten Main Street for First Friday and Second Saturday this month.

Numerous businesses will participate in First Friday Festivities on August 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by a free movie screening of Jurassic Park (1993) at dusk in Chambers Fort Park. This Friday’s theme of Back to School and Support the Arts will sweep through Main Street with family-friendly entertainment! On the Courthouse Plaza will be a live band performance by Cumberland Valley Christian School, cheering and tumbling demonstrations by the PA Starz, face painting by the Coyle Free Library’s Children’s Dept, a stilt walker from the Capitol Theatre’s upcoming comedy show and lots more.

Also happening this Friday night will be a watercolor display by artist Pam Wegner at The Foundry Art Co-op as well as Brussel’s Cafe hosting student and alumni musicians from CASHS in the alley of 59 North Main St. Wes Holly, a comedian with a new show at the Capitol Theatre will make appearances at both First Friday and Second Saturday events.



Next Saturday, Aug. 12 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. will feature local music in Chambers Fort Park with Shawan and the Wonton with opener Allison & Dave’s String Band. At dusk, The LEGO Batman Movie (2017) will light up the night – don’t forget to bring blankets and chairs for this fun, family film! Chu’s Hand-Held Cuisine will also set up at the park during the music and movie. Special thanks to our music sponsor Volvo Construction Equipment North America and movie sponsor Summit Health!

First Friday events are co-hosted by the Downtown Business Council and Council for the Arts. Second Saturdays are organized by Downtown Chambersburg, Inc
