Do you Have The Best Peach, Tomato or Apple Recipe in Franklin County?

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. In line with eating Franklin County Fresh, the Franklin County Visitors Bureau has announced a search for the best locally-grown recipes that feature three well-known products, peaches, tomatoes and apples, in a brand new publication.

Chambersburg peaches are known for their juicy and irresistible taste, while the tomato is a big part of the farming season with taste-testing as their season draws near. Apples in the nearby orchards are delicious way to start the fall.

In an effort to continue eating fresh in Franklin County, this publication, The Franklin County Fresh Food & Dining Guide is slated to be released in fall of 2015. As part of this book, which will provide resources to visitors and residents with local farms, fresh food and stories about local restaurants and businesses, the visitors bureau is looking to feature local recipes.

From delicious peach cobbler with homemade Franklin County ice cream, to fresh-chopped salsa or apple dumplings, The Franklin County Visitors Bureau is looking for the best recipes to share with the public. The recipes submitted must have at least once of the ingredients featured in the dish but may have all ingredients if the recipe calls for it.

Submissions, including a photograph of the finished recipe, will be accepted by email to lcappuccio@explorefranklincountypa.com and by mailing or dropping them off in-person to 37 South Main Street Suite 100 in Chambersburg.

Voting for the public’s favorite recipes will be held on the Franklin County Visitors Bureau’s website and the FCVB Facebook page–Facebook.com/FCVBen after the submissions start to come in. The top-three vote-getting recipes will be published in the Franklin Fresh Food & Dining Guide, which will be distributed throughout the county and along I-81.
