Allison Antrim Museuem will hold the monthly speaker meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the German Bank Barn beginning at 7 p.m. The speaker is Ben Thomas, Jr.. who will present a PowerPoint on how radio came to Greencastle. Highlights will include:

  • What happened behind the microphone during those 30 years.
  • How his father,  Ben Thomas S,. started in radio.
  • The golden days of radio in the Greencastle-Antrim community, which began in 1967 when WKSL, 94.3 FM, went on the air 24 hours a day.
  • Stories will be shared of WKSL radio personalities “Cousin Harry,” “Big Bad Burt,” “Shelly and Don,” Greg Hoover, and dozens of other men and women who entertained and inspired the community during those golden years.
  • The story of a young baseball player known as Cal Ripken Jr.

In addition, several WKSL alumni will be present to share some stories.

As always, speakers meetings have no admission fee, but donations are greatly appreciated. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
