DESCRIPTION:Thursday October 9th\, 2025 * 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM\nJoin us for a PVGA-sponsored event to learn about operations at Twin Springs Fruit Farm.\nThe sun will be setting earlier then\, so this meeting will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.\nThe meeting will start out in one of Twin Springs’ vegetable production greenhouses\, where Tom Childs\, one of the farm’s managers\, will talk to us about how Twin Springs grows greens successfully year-round.\nThen we will move out to the field where most of the time will be spent discussing methods used for growing plasticulture strawberries with dormant plants as the planting stock.\nThis is especially timely considering current disease issues in parts of the strawberry plug plant supply.\nJesse King\, Twin Springs co-owner\, will show us Twin Springs’ bramble varieties and trellising methods\, and Kathy Demchak will cover blueberry establishment practices\, nutrition\, and current disease issues.\nRefreshments (provided at no charge) will be served by The Cow to end the evening.\nGrowers are welcome to stay and continue conversations informally afterwards.\nThe address for the meeting is: Twin Springs Fruit Farm\, 936 Orchard Rd. DESCRIPTION:Thursday September 18th\, 2025 – Friday November 7th\, 2025\nWilson College Shares Letterpress Printing in New Art Exhibit\nWilson College will present an exhibition of work by artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. in the Bogigian Gallery\, Lortz Hall\, from September 18th through November 7th\, 2025.\nThe College will host an opening reception starting at 4:30 PM on September 18th.\nTitled “Amos Paul Kennedy Jr.: Citizen Printer\,” the exhibition showcases Kennedy’s dynamic approach to letterpress printing\, blending traditional techniques with contemporary design sensibilities.\nKnown for his bold\, layered compositions and distinctive typographic style\, Kennedy’s work invites viewers to engage with language\, color\, and form in fresh and thought-provoking ways.\nWorking with handset wood and metal type\, Kennedy emphasizes the physical labor and tactile beauty of the traditional printing process.\nHis method of overprinting vibrant colors in dense\, rhythmic layers results in visually striking pieces that allow chance and repetition to become part of the message.\nNo two prints are ever the same as each carries its own visual weight and emotional resonance.\nThe Library of Congress\, Emory University\, and the Newberry Library\, among others\, house Kennedy’s work\, which is recognized for its combination of wit\, insight\, and craftsmanship.\nThis exhibition celebrates letterpress printing as a medium of artistic dialogue and cultural expression.\nThe title “Citizen Printer” is based on a recent book about Kennedy\, published in 2024 by Letterform Archive Books\, San Francisco.
