This year, MEG is working in partnership with the Cumberland Theatre.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, first performed around 1596, is an often-produced Shakespeare favorite, with the Athenian forest filled with magic, including fairy king, Oberon and the fairy queen, Titania.
When four young lovers from Athens run away to the forest, mischief-maker Puck causes havoc with a magical love potion.
During the night the four young Athenians chase each other through the woods while fairy magic is practiced upon them.
Even the fairy queen, Titania succumbs to a magic spell when she falls in love with Bottom, a rustic workman whose head has been transformed into a donkey.
Directed by Sam Little, the cast includes Bailey Hovermale (Helena), Sam Little (Oberon/Theseus), Kimberli Rowley (Titania), and Seth Thompson (Puck).
Costume design by Robin Shaner.
Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic if you wish.
