Zoom Session: All About Frogs and Amphibians!
This program is presented in partnership with Antietam Watershed Association (AWA).
Join us via Zoom for this special Earth Day presentation!
With a focus on amphibians, Dr. Molly Bletz has studied wildlife and disease around the globe, from the U.S. to Panama to Germany to Madagascar, investigating disease dynamics, host susceptibility, the ecology of host-associated microbiota, and disease mitigation strategies. Dr. Bletz is a disease ecologist and conservation biologist whose expertise lies at the intersection of microbial ecology, disease ecology, bioinformatics, and conservation.
Simply expressed, Dr. Bletz is a “frog expert” and will present her layman’s version of amphibian ecology and the relationship of this to the environment.
”Since childhood, I have been drawn to outdoor adventures and they often found me with a bucket and net in hand to catch and observe unsuspecting amphibians,” Dr. Bletz says on her website. “My passion for amphibians and other wildlife sparked my scientific career.”
Dr. Bletz, David H. Smith Conservation Fellow, University of Massachusetts Boston, earned a master’s degree from James Madison University and a PhD from the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany. Learn more about her research here: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=LQ7MT5YAAAAJ&hl=en
