StoryWalk® Sundays, The Institute

Sunday April 3rd, 2022 * 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Our series of StoryWalk® Sunday adventures for kids continues in April.
The story posted on the StoryWalk® trail at Pine Hill Park will change monthly, and plans call for a special event to accompany each one on the second Sunday of each month. For April, we are holding StoryWalk® Sunday on the first Sunday.
Kids will enjoy a guided walk along the story trail as they read the book, then make a special craft project to take home—and warm up with a campfire and yummy s’mores!
April’s storybook is “Our Big Home” by Linda Glaser, a perfect choice for Earth Month.
Glaser’s beautiful poem is a wonderful way to gently lead children toward the understanding of caring for our environment—our home is our planet, Earth. In a lyrical, child-oriented style, the book presents the idea that our ‘big home’ is shared not only with all people but with all plants and animals as well—we share the air, the water, the soil, and other elements that affect and sustain all of us who live on Earth.
Elisa Kleven’s vibrant illustrations enhance the concept as she takes young readers to an African plain, a Caribbean Island, a South American mountain, and around the world to see people and animals reveling in the beauty and abundance of our shared home.
The event is FREE, but pre-registration is required by April 1. To register, email to: info@natureandcultureinstitute.org or call 717-762-0373. Limited to 20 children.
Children in grades K–5 may be dropped off and picked up at 3 p.m. All families are welcome, but activities are geared for preschool and elementary age kids.
Stay tuned for the May book title to be announced.
Current Covid safety guidelines are being followed.
