of Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center

FCVB takes visitors on a virtual tour of Franklin County’s Road to Freedom sites and ends with a presentation from speaker Dr. Arnold Hence on “Hallowed Grounds.” Hence is a retired vice president of a community college and now focuses on capturing photographs of African-American civil rights and historic sites in addition to landscapes and old cars. “The interest in civil rights memorials emanated from being stationed in the south during the Civil Rights era and personally experiencing the racial tension and hostility during that period. Many of the places where some horrible things took place have now become historic landmarks. I want to help preserve that legacy to show not only how far America has come but how far we have to go.”
