Wed., Feb. 5 & 12: Demonstration—Creating Gourd Art: 12:30–2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op, 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Artist and sculptor Denny Bingaman demonstrates designing, burning, and dyeing gourd art.

Wed., Feb. 5: Writers Forum: 4:30–7 p.m. Alexander Hamilton Library (second floor meeting room), 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Area writers in all genres are invited to discuss their writing. The prompts for February include stories about Valentine’s Day or a love story or poem. Participants may also discuss any subject they’re writing about. Wed., Feb. 5: Open Mic Night: 7–9 p.m. Music Makers, 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Local musicians, poets, actors, and comedians are invited to participate in a session facilitated by Brad Munn. All performers welcome, and spectators are invited to enjoy the free entertainment. A sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano are provided.

Fri., Feb. 7: Wind Down Friday: 5:30–8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op, 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Patric Schlee and friends play flute, hand drums, didgeridoo, and more in a relaxed atmosphere with drinks and refreshments every Friday.

 

Fri., Feb. 7: Live Music Friday—Andrew Sussman & Company JAZZ: 5:30–8 p.m. Music Makers, 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Andrew Sussman & Company JAZZ featuring Sussman (keyboard), Ken Jankura (double bass and vocals), and Sam Hepfer (drums) performing jazz standards and tunes from the Great American Songbook. Sussman is the founder of AAGW and Destination ARTS! and former executive director of the Cumberland Valley School of Music. Refreshments served.

Fri., Feb. 8: Children’s Garden Stakes Class: 1–3 p.m. Ceramic Arts Center, 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA. Children will create three garden ornaments using a sun, butterfly, or festive flower template. Each stake is made out of stoneware clay and will be painted with colorful glazes, guided by Mary Ashe-Mahr. Recommended for ages 5–12. Fee applies. Visit www.ceramics-nccs.org to register.

Sat., Feb. 8: Demonstration—Spinning Wool into Yarn: 1–3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op, 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Pat Beard will demonstrate spinning yarn on an old-fashioned loom. A member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild, Beard does all her own weaving and sewing.

Sat., Feb. 8: Live Music: 2–4 p.m. 1884 Market House, 15 Schier’s Way, Waynesboro, PA. Free musical entertainment from Joel Newman, who plays everything from blues and jazz to funk and classical. He has performed with musical giants such as T.M. Stevens, Dr. John, Miroslav Vitous, Dick Wagner and David Sanborn.

Sun., Feb. 9: Second Sunday Praise Band Performance: 2–3 p.m. Music Makers, 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Members of the Faith United Methodist Church praise team will perform a special free concert of contemporary praise and worship music. Open to the public.

Mon., Feb. 10: Artisans Connection: 6:30–8:30 p.m. Music Makers, 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Monthly gathering welcoming artists from all disciplines: artisans, authors, musicians, potters, photographers, poets—and those who love art. This month’s theme is Valentine’s Day. Visiting Artist: Joe Nadzady: Gallery 35 East, 35 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA. Gallery 35 East welcomes featured artist Joe Nadzady. The artist’s subjects range from still life to a variety of landscapes and more—a beautiful display of soft pastels, oil and acrylic paintings. Through February.

Featured Guest Artist, Jane Moltrup: 42 West ARTS Co-Op, 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PAArtist and professional photographer Jane Moltrup’s work includes a wide range of photography subjects, as well as watercolor paintings. She has also written and illustrated a children’s book, “Pitter, Patter Goes the Rain,” and illustrated other children’s books. Through February.

“Contrast” 42 West ARTS Co-Op, 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PANew all-member show includes theme-related art in various forms including Donna Bingaman oil painting, Denny Bingaman photography and cold cast bronze, Jennifer Caldwell jewelry, Rod and Karri Benedict pottery, Hollis Mentzer art, Gwen Hendrickson photography, fabric art and wood carving, Ed Beard wood burning, Andy Smetzer photography, and Pat Beard fiber art. Through March.
