CHAMBERSBURG: Council for the Arts! – 34th Annual Miniature Art Exhibition

182 Original Works of Art will be displayed: oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings; drawings; and hand-pulled prints and sculpture, many by nationally known artists.
“We received 323 entries this year,” explained Exhibit Coordinator Anne Finucane, “from 101 artists in 19 states. We advertise nationally, and always receive entries from artists all over the country!”
Judge and juror for this year’s show was Mary Beth Akre. Akre is a Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Loyola University Maryland, where she teaches painting, drawing, design, collage and the found object and other courses. She earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and a MFA from Radford University, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Her landscapes have been shown in solo, and group exhibitions nationally. Solo shows include Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which represented her work for many years, The Lancaster Museum of Art, and Johns Hopkins University’s Turner Gallery. Group shows include Cudahy’s Gallery in Richmond, Virginia, and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. Recent juried exhibitions include the Cumberland Valley Artists Juried Exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, The Susquehanna Center for the Creative Arts, and Montpelier Cultural Center.
