Support the Ride to Stop the Powerlines
Sunday, September 22
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Transource proposes to place 29 miles of 13.5-story, 230 kv power line in Franklin County PA as part of the Independence Energy Connection Project.
- WHY: To bring cheaper electric to Baltimore, northern Virginia, and Washington and possibly save households $2 on electric costs, . No savings is guaranteed but projected as $2 per household.
- ZERO benefit to Franklin County and PA!
On September 22nd, Franklin County Visitors Bureau and the concerned citizens of Franklin County’s Stop Transource are organizing a ride along the proposed power route. See first-hand the agriculture lands, waterways, recreation areas, and bucolic vistas affected by the line placements. Beyond the direct impact on quality of daily life, the project will have a negative impact on businesses along Route 30 and I-81 as well as property values.
The ride is intended to help citizens “Think About Our Future” and to raise funds to continue the opposition. It is imperative for the public to see why our land is valuable and worth protecting, nurturing, and preserving. Bicyclists are being invited to participate in the Ride as are motorcyclists, vintage car owners, and all other forms of riders. The more that can see and support this effort, the stronger its impact.
