Researching Franklin County House Histories

The Franklin County Historical Society is excited to announce a new workshop, “Researching Franklin County House Histories: Examining Records to Help Determine the History of a House.” Sponsored by FCHS and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau (FCVB), the workshop will take place on Monday, June 27 from 8:00am-6:00pm at the FCVB, 15 South Main Street, Chambersburg.

The workshop will analyze different types of records, resources, and structural elements that can help date old houses. Presenters are Pam Anderson, certified genealogist and owner of Anderson CoGen, Heather Wade, Franklin County Archivist, and Kara Shindle, Franklin County GIS Director.

The cost of the workshop is $45.00 per person and includes lunch.

Finding Family Genealogy Workshop Set for June 21-23

Two Franklin County tourism partners, Anderson CoGen and Mercersburg Inn, are teaming up to present “Finding Family in Franklin County” Genealogy Workshop on June 21-23. Finding family heritage is the number two hobby in the United States, according to USA Today and Time. A variety of DNA testing kits, online research tools, and television series focused on find family ancestry have combined to make genealogy research more than a passing fad or a means to confirming family credentials.
