The story posted on the StoryWalk® trail at Pine Hill Park changes monthly, and a special story event accompanies each one on the second Sunday of each month.
This month’s StoryWalk® Sunday is the perfect way to welcome the many splendors of fall.
Kids will join a guided walk along the story trail as they read the book, then make a special craft project to take home.
The featured storybook for October is “The Pumpkin Fair,” by Eve Bunting with illustrations by Eileen Christelow.
With bouncy rhymes and delightful watercolor-and-ink illustrations, this story explores a lively and colorful pumpkin fair, where pumpkins of every size are on display.
There are all kinds of pumpkin-inspired foods—and even a marching band in pumpkin suits!
The event is FREE, but pre-registration is required by October 6.

Kids will join a guided walk along the story trail as they read the book, then make a special craft project to take home.
The featured storybook for September is “It’s Fall,” by Linda Glaser.
“Simple text and bold, beautiful paper sculpture convey the animal life, plant life, weather, colors, clothing, and feelings associated with the fall season.”
The event is FREE, but pre-registration is required by September 8.
The Franklin County Historical Society will hold a book signing with John Brown in Chambersburg (3rd Edition) author Virginia Stake at the Old Jail, 175 East King Street, Chambersburg.
The 3rd edition of the book features additional chapters with new information on the Ritner family.
Mary Ritner owned the boarding house where John Brown stayed in 1859 while planning his raid on Harper’s Ferry.
The book will be available for purchase for $23.00, tax included.
The Old Jail will also be open for tours from 10:00am – 4:00pm for a nominal fee.
