Colorful First Friday: Chalk Art Contest and Community Gathering Main Street Park, Waynesboro

Join us for a vibrant evening of creativity and community at our Sidewalk Chalk Contest and Community Services event!
Unleash your artistic talents on the sidewalks as you compete for fantastic prizes and show off your chalk art skills.
While having fun with chalk, you’ll also get to mingle with various local organizations such as Waynesboro Community and Human Services, The Institute, The Connection, The Lion’s Club, Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc., BLAST, Waynesboro New Hope Shelter, WIN Victim Services, SCCAP and several others.
Let’s come together to create art, make a difference, and enjoy a night of positivity and connection.
We will have a food vendor and live music in the park.

Chambersburg Ballet, Dance A-Thon

Saturday April 8th, 2023 * 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The Chambersburg Ballet presents its second annual Dance-a-thon, which will be held at Wilson College’s Laird Hall.
Students and company dancers will perform 14 pieces ranging from classical to modern styles, featuring solos, ensembles and pas de deuxes.
Each piece has been choreographed by students of the Chambersburg Ballet Theatre (CBT) School or by trainees or dancers of its affiliated performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet.
Friends, family and the public are invited to drop-in or stay for the entire event to see these young dancers express their creativity and energy through dance.
Dance-a-thon is open and free to the public.
Dance-a-thon is a fundraiser for the Chambersburg Ballet Guild, a 501-c 3 non profit that supports the Chambersburg Ballet.
Students will be raising funds online using an online platform called givebutter.

The Chambersburg Ballet puts on several performance runs throughout the year, including The Nutcracker, a winter production and spring performance.

Vintage Up-Cycled Succulent Planter Workshop at The Cupcake Gypsy in Waynesboro

Saturday January 28th, 2023 * 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Vintage up-cycled planter filled with gorgeous succulents, cactus and re-purposed items that spark your creativity!
What’s Included:
Vintage tin-roof piece that has been up-cycled into a sturdy planter.
Measures just over 15 inches in length and 7 inches wide.
This planter will make a gorgeous center-piece!
Soil, stones, moss, succulents, planting tools and care guide all provided.
You can use as many or as few succulents and plants as you like up to a max total of 13.
Additional plants and succulents can be purchased individually at the event.
During the event, we will discuss best practices for succulent care and long-term maintenance.
Propagation and trouble-shooting topics will also be covered.
Beverages, food and sweets are available for purchase at The Cupcake Gypsy prior, during and after the event.
Due to health regulations, no outside food or beverages allowed.
Pre-registration and pre-payment are required in order to guarantee your spot.
Succulents, cactus, plants, rocks and vintage items included in the workshop will be similar in size and variety to those pictured.
Substitutions and additions will be made based on availablity and to ensure high quality.
Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred.

I (Heart) Pine Cones: Discover the Pines at Pine Hill
Pine Hill Recreation Area, 12684 Mentzer Gap Rd, Waynesboro, Pa.
For kids in grades K–5.
Students will go on a guided “wondering walk” through the forest, and learn how humans keep warm in the winter.
Students work together with others to gather a variety of natural materials like branches and leaves, and build a lean-to structure or fort, requiring collaborative creativity and teamwork.
This program introduces STEM concepts through problem solving.
Cost: $6 for Institute members; $7 general public.
