Visit Country Creek Produce Farm in Shippensburg and take a moonlit hayride, go flashlight picking in the pumpkin patch and enjoy the corn maze at night on October 30 & 31.
Chambersburg Community Theatre is going virtual for Halloween with Bram Stoker’s Dracula For Kids. It airs, beginning Friday, October 30 and can be viewed again and again over the next two weeks. Sign up by donation here.
Outdoor movies are magic, and especially Hocus Pocus, showing outdoors at Fort Loudon Community Center on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 PM.
For older kids or adults, it is a fright-filled Friday at Stoner’s Dairy Farm in Mercersburg on October 31, 7 PM-11 PM. Gather some courage, bring a flashlight, and get ready for ghouls, ghosts, and scary ones, lurking in the corn. Brussels Café and Relax in Chambersburg are holding costume parties. Allison-Antrim Museum, Inc. will be hosting a fall workday at the Ebbert Springs Archeological Preserve and Heritage Park, 12633 Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, PA 17225 on Saturday, October 26, 2019, 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring yard and garden tools, trailers and pickup trucks to assist with the work projects both inside and out. This is a rain or shine event. Volunteers are needed at all skill levels. Tasks include transporting chairs and other items from the Museum to Ebbert Spring, outside Fall cleanup, carpet removal, cleaning inside, cataloging books, and other jobs. Each volunteer hour is worth $25 when Allison-Antrim Museum applies for grants.
Lunch and snacks will be provided and participants will get an insider’s look at the property, its rich history and scenic beauty.
The Ebbert Springs Archeological Preserve and Heritage Park is co-managed by The Archeological Conservancy, Allison-Antrim Museum, Inc., and Antrim Township. Ebbert Springs’ history extends back to 10,000 BC and has rich cultural history of both Native American and Early American occupation.
Today, Ebbert Springs is a cultural and nature preserve open to the public year-round, dawn to dusk, for passive recreation on designated trails depicting the history of the site.

Visitors can enjoy holiday fun at Greencastle’s Heritage Christmas, December 1, 8, and 15, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Each Friday includes horse and carriage rides through downtown, cookie decorating, luminaries, carolers, holiday window displays, and a variety of music on the square. Enjoy a holiday train display at the 1909 Highline Train Station on South Jefferson Street. Children can bring their Letters to Santa to post in the special mailbox on the square. It is three consecutive Fridays of family fun in Greencastle PA.
On the first Friday of Heritage Christmas, December 1, Allison Antrim Museum is holding a Christmas open house from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The 1860 museum house, situated on the original land tract owned by town founder John Allison, is decorated as a Civil War era home. Della Robbia fruit arrangements in the Victorian concrete urns and transom of the front door welcomes guests. Roping on the banister, fresh magnolia and boxwood greens, and cedar tree decorated with dried fruit, gilded walnuts, Marzipan fruit candies, gingerbread cookies, antique candle holders, and Civil War flags will take visitors back to a much simpler time. Vintage toys, period furnishings, and an 1800s one-horse sleigh are on display throughout the museum house.
In the German Bank Barn, enjoy the display of 1930s vintage boyhood toys. Susan Shaffer, of Joyful Arts Studio in downtown Greencastle, will lead guests during a come-and-go evening of painting a take-home Christmas ornament. Reservations can be made here or by calling 717- 658-2177.
Residents of the Greencastle area hold an annual “Light It Up” decorating contest. Visitors can enjoy the twinkling handiwork of local residents as Greencastle and the surrounding Antrim Township sparkle for the holidays. Be part of selecting the winner by casting a $1 vote from December 8 to 18. Proceeds benefit the Greencastle Food Pantry.
