Yoga in the Cave, Black-Coffey Caverns

Tuesday July 18th, August 16th, September 20th, 2022 * 6:30PM – 7:30 PM
Join them 80 feet under the earth to ground and move through a slow restorative yoga nidra practice.
Practice will take place at:
Black Coffey Caverns
6242 Warm Spring Road
Greencastle, PA 17225
Ground into the cool clay and listen to the echo of the spoken word during a sacred practice in a magical place.
Please arrive at the caverns 15 minutes early to make the walk into the cave.
$20.00 per student ($10.00 will be donated to Black Coffey Caverns).

Information for students:
Dress warmly as the temperature in the cavern is 50-55 degrees.
Please wear sturdy shoes for the walk into the cave.
Bring a flashlight or wear a headlamp.
Bring an old yoga mat, trash bag, blanket, mittens, water bottle, socks, and if you wish a journal/pen to note any experiences and a bolster or pillow to get cozy.

Winter EXPLORE! For the Birds, The Institute in Waynesboro

Tuesday February 1, 2022 * 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Winter fun for kids is on tap in February with a new EXPLORE! program series from The Institute.
Designed for kids in grades K to 5, the programs will run on Tuesdays, February 1, 8, 15 and 22, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area near Waynesboro, Pa.
All program activities are outside. Taught by Institute educators, each program includes educational activities related to the season.

Activities include listening to a storybook about birds, plus learning about the structure of a bird’s body and how to identify several winter bird species.
On a guided hike, students will learn some bird calls and look for birds. They will also make an edible plant bouquet for the birds.

Grades: K–5
Cost: $5-member, $6 non-member.
Limit: 15.
Location:Pine Hill Recreation Area
COVID protocols in accordance with CDC and PA DOH guidelines will be followed.
Masks are not required for outdoor activities but are recommended when appropriate distancing (3 feet) is not possible.

Summer Explore, Beautiful Bugs – The Institute

The Institute is offering a series of six new outdoor adventure programs in June & July.
Designed for kids in grades K to 5, the EXPLORE! at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa.
All program activities are outside. Each week will feature a different theme.
Taught by Institute educators, every program includes educational activities related to the season and theme.
The theme for June 30 is Beautiful Bugs.
The group will learn about the variety of insects, and play an insect game. They will take a discovery hike in the woods, read a cicada book, and make a cicada-themed craft to take home.
Grades: K–5

Summer Explore, Camping Fun & Nature Games – The Institute

Designed for kids in grades K to 5, the EXPLORE! at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa.
All program activities are outside. Each week will feature a different theme.
Taught by Institute educators, every program includes educational activities related to the season and theme.
The theme for June 23 is “camping.”
Kids will travel with the instructor down the StoryWalk® trail and together will read the story, “When We Go Camping.”
They will learn about backyard camping, discover and engage in nature games that can be played while camping or hiking.
Participants will also create a make-and-take craft, a “nature game” to take home with them.
