Renfrew Museum and Park, Farmstead Taste & Tour

Renfrew Museum and Park, Farmstead Taste & Tour

Treat yourself or someone special to a delicious farm-to-table dining experience at Renfrew Museum and Park. Our Farmstead Taste & Tour program offers guests the opportunity to sample seasonal, locally sourced fare inspired by the traditions of our historic Pennsylvania German farmstead.
Your meal will be hosted in Renfrew’s Wagon Shed Room inside our converted Victorian barn. Servers dressed in authentic early 19th century period clothing will wait upon you with old-fashioned hospitality.
Start with a hearty coursed meal of salad, soup, and a selection of fresh-baked breads accompanied by Dutch Valley preserves and creamy, churned butter followed by a trio of sandwiches. After lunch, enjoy a tour of the farmstead outbuildings and 1812 stone Museum House, then return for a scrumptious dessert.
Our menu changes seasonally and reflects the rhythms of life on the farm. Produce is sourced from Greensburg Farms, Hagerstown, MD and prepared by our friends at Keystone Family Restaurant, Waynesboro, PA.

2020 New Docent Training

2020 New Docent Training

Waynesboro: Renfrew Museum and Park

Saturday, August 1, 2020 * 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Renfrew relies on volunteer docents who interpret of our beautiful, historic Pennsylvania German farmstead for Renfrew’s diverse audiences. We’re looking for friendly people to engage our visitors, helping them both learn our history and enjoy great experiences at Renfrew Museum and Park. Initial training for new docents, or those interested in a refresher, is scheduled for a three-hour session on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Together we’ll cover the general history of Renfrew, our organizational structure, and tour the 1812 Museum House and front farmstead buildings as a group. Afterward, you will be paired with an experienced docent or member of our staff who will serve as your mentor while you develop, prepare, and practice your own hour-long tour.
When you feel comfortable, you will then perform a certification tour for our Executive Director and officially become a Renfrew docent! Since we never stop learning, regular continuing education opportunities will be offered with chances to dive deeper into the rich history of Renfrew’s property, buildings, and collections. Join a special group of volunteers with a passion for connecting people to the past. Consider becoming a Renfrew docent today! Learn more below under “Tours & Interpretation”.
