Support The Institute by bringing your family to a fall celebration of Pumpkins & Pippins!
Our second annual Pumpkins and Pippins fall festival will be held at Pine Hill Recreation Area, Waynesboro.
12684 Mentzer Gap Rd. Waynesboro, PA
Rain location is the Waynesboro Area Middle School.
A fundraiser for The Institute, the festival includes a full slate of activities and fun for all ages, including a ‘kid zone’ with yard games, a StoryWalk® hike & activity, a photo stand and more.
Pony rides for kids from Serendipity Horse Meadows Farm provide a fun, memorable experience during the festival.
In addition, craft vendors offer a variety of wares.
“We also have a pie walk, a pumpkin patch, and a decorated pumpkin contest,” said Jessica Watson, the Institute’s assistant director and event organizer. “We invite everyone to support The Institute by bringing your family to a fall celebration of Pumpkins & Pippins.”
A star attraction is the ever-popular trebuchet pumpkin launcher, which will run throughout the day sending pumpkins flying through the sky.
Trebuchets are giant catapult devices that originated in medieval times.
“The Institute’s trebuchet was built by volunteers who researched the devices thoroughly to create an authentic working model,” Watson said. “Our trebuchet hurls pumpkins, and it’s great fun to watch how far they fly.”
The open house will showcase our beautiful church with guided tours and the bookstore with a variety of religious items and books for purchase.
After three years, our church festival is back with your favorite ethnic food such as perogies, pastitsio, and mouth-watering desserts that include baklava
In addition, our priest, Fr. David Jacobs, will offer presentations on the Orthodox Faith with Q&A at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
At 5 p.m. there will be an evening service.
All are welcome to join us.
Proceeds from the festival benefit organizations serving those in need: the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and our St. Seraphim Orthodox Center here in Chambersburg.
The Center serves lunch to some 35 to 45 guests twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays.
We are located at 2063 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA, with free parking and free admission to the festival – just look for the church with the gold domes.
Nestled in the foothills of the Tuscarora Mountains; Mercersburg is a quaint town with a historic past.
Our Springfest is a large one-day festival, which attracts a wide variety of crafters, artisans, jewelers, food vendors, civic groups, and local businesses that participate.
Downtown merchants and restaurants are also in full swing during the festivities.
The popular Amish Donuts will be joining us again, as well as Cold Spring Hollow Distillery and Rough Edges Brewing (offering samplings and bottle purchases).
