Scoop-a-Palooza, the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation’s yearly ice cream festival returns on July 9 at Chambersburg Area Senior High School Cafeteria.
Sponsored by ACNB Bank, the festivities will also include a month long Scoop-a-Palooza Ice Cream Trail.
Join the fun by following a downloadable trail map to local ice cream shops and taking pictures of your sweet treats to enter to win prizes.

Open Trail, Borough of Mercersburg

On behalf of the Mercersburg Area Council for Wellness (MACWell) and the Montgomery Peters Mercersburg Connectivity (MPMC) Project, you are invited to the “Open the Trail” event this Saturday, April 30th from 9 AM to Noon at the Johnston Run Stream Side Trail in the Borough of Mercersburg.
If you have not been to the trail, the entrance is located at Oregon Street/Church Hill Road beside Choice Collision Center.

Sping Season Family Trail Hike, The Institute

The Naturalist Series of Outdoor Programs
Part of a series of Appalachian Trail Hikes, planned for the last Sunday of each month, January–May 2022
Hike with us along a portion of the legendary Appalachian Trail! We are fortunate to live in an area that the Trail crosses through in several nearby locations.
Led by an Institute naturalist, the hike will explore some of the wonders to be found in the woods and along the byways.
Rendezvous point for the hike will be sent upon registration. Make sure to dress warmly for the weather.
The April 24 hike is for families with children age 7 and older.
This event is FREE (donations accepted).
Pre-registration is required; register via email at info@NatureAndCultureInstitute.org
A storm date will be determined later if needed.
COVID protocols in accordance with CDC and PA DOH guidelines will be followed.

StoryWalk Sundays, The Institute

Read, Walk, Talk – Plus a Campfire and S’mores – All Outside Together!
Guided walk on the StoryWalk Trail
Fun Craft project to make and take home
Campfire with hot chocolate and s’mores!
Limit, 20 Children.  All ages (families) are welcome but the program is geared for preschool and elementary ages.
The event is FREE, but you must pre-register by December 9th. Email us at info@natureandcultureinstitute.org to sign up.
Children in grades K–5 may be dropped off and picked up at 3:00 PM
IMPORTANT:
  • COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed.
  • We require that everyone have a mask with them.
  • Mask use will be encouraged when in a close group setting when appropriate distancing isn’t possible.
  • Respect physical distancing guidelines when possible.
  • If you are sick, have been sick within the past two weeks or been around anyone else that is sick, please stay home.

Founded in 2010, Scoop is an annual ice cream event to support the educational programs of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.
In 2020 & 2021 Scoop went virtual with the Scoop Ice Cream Trail Map
Local Ice Cream, Prizes & Virtual Events
2021 Scoop is again on the road in July – National Ice Cream Month!
Presented by ACNB Bank, Scoop features a FREE Scoop Ice Cream Trail Map with our participating ice cream shops, a Scoop Kids collaboration with Franklin County Library System’s Bookmobile, Virtual Scoop T-Shirt shop and a Facebook Book Live Celebrity Sundae event on Saturday 7/10.
Plus new in 2021 a SCOOP RAFFLE with hundreds of dollars of gift card & other prizes (buy your tickets starting in June 2021) weekly & monthly prize drawings.
