DESCRIPTION:Monday December 1st\, 2025 * 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM\nArea residents are invited to a “star party”—a telescope viewing of the night sky at Pine Hill Recreation Area near Waynesboro.\nThe event is part of Buttonwood Nature Center’s Naturalist Discovery Series\, created in partnership with Tri-State Astronomers (TSA).\nIt is free and open to the public.\nTelescopes will be set up in the park\, and members of the Tri-State Astronomers club will be on hand to guide viewers and answer questions.\nDuring the star party\, participants may observe various nebula and star clusters of the winter night sky.\nDan Kaminsky\, TSA’s community outreach coordinator\, helps organize the event.\n“One of the goals of our group is to have as many people as possible look through a telescope\,” Kaminsky said.\n“It’s also a good chance for someone thinking of buying a telescope to try one out and ask questions.”\nFor more information on the night skies\, TSA suggests these websites: www.tristateastronomers.org and www.spaceweather.com. \nViewers may come and go anytime during the event.\nThose attending may bring their own telescope and binoculars\, as well as lawn chairs or blankets.\nFlashlights are not permitted in the telescope viewing area.\nIf the sky is mostly cloudy\, the star party will be postponed.\nCheck Buttonwood’s website and Facebook page if weather is cloudy.\nFor more information call 717.762.0373 or visit www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org.

DESCRIPTION:Monday July 7th – Friday July 11th\, 2025 * 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM\n\nFor kids completing grades K – 7 \n  \n\nThis is our fourth year offering this one-week art immersion program designed to inspire students to creative expression through visual art.\nIn an outdoor park setting surrounded by nature\, students spend a full week exploring and creating with a variety of mediums and techniques like drawing\, painting\, sculpture\, clay\, fiber arts and collage.\nThe plan is for each student to create two artworks every day! \nStudents will be divided into two age groups.\nWith guidance from professional art educators\, each student will complete one project in the morning and another in the afternoon\, with a lunch break in between.\n Working with a wide range of mediums\, students will develop and build upon their pre-existing skills to create new artworks.\nAn Art Show on the last day\, July 11 at 3:00 PM allows students to share their work with their families. \nWe will provide two snacks a day and have two short recess breaks in the morning and afternoon as well.\nPlease send a packed lunch\, water bottle\, sunscreen\, and bug spray with students each day. \nPine Hill Recreation Area\, Waynesboro\n\nREGISTER HERE
