Valentine’s Day may be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait another year to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Mainstreet Waynesboro’s ninth annual Chocolate Extravaganza is scheduled for Friday, March 6 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Country Club. Organizers have planned another event featuring a variety of chocolate creations created at several of the town’s businesses.

This year’s line-up of purveyors includes returning favorites such as Burgundy Lane Bed & Breakfast, Christine’s Café, Despina Leos Candy Kitchen, Main Street Diner & Bakery, TranquilaTEA, Waynesboro Country Club, The Waynesburger and Zoe’s Chocolate Company.

Music will again be provided by The Gettysburg Big Band. The 17-piece ensemble plans to entertain audiences with a variety of pop, jazz and swing standards from the first half of the 20th century.

In addition to the assortment of sweets, guests will receive complimentary champagne and a souvenir crystal champagne flute. Door prizes will also be awarded throughout the evening.

Organizers of the event encourage anyone to attend for a number of reasons.

“This annual fundraiser is truly an evening of elegance, and while formal attire is welcomed, it’s certainly not required,” said Suzie Moyer, Mainstreet Waynesboro’s administrative assistant. “Some people come to hear the band. Others look forward to dancing. But, there aren’t many who leave without getting their fill of delicious chocolate. That’s obviously the highlight that many attendees enjoy the most.”

Lead sponsors of the 2015 Chocolate Extravaganza donating at the “Truffle” level are Alma Oyer and Susquehanna Bank. “Milk Chocolate” sponsors are F&M Trust and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau, with additional support also provided by Eunice Statler, Mayor Dick Starliper and Waynesboro Construction at the “White Chocolate” level.

Mainstreet’s list of ongoing membership sponsors includes Alma Oyer, Susquehanna Bank, M&T Bank, Greg & Debi Duffey, Stephen & Maxine Beck, The Leland of Laurel Run and Waynesboro Hospital.

Tickets are all-inclusive and cost $25 per person. They are available at Christine’s Café, Despina Leos Candy Kitchen, Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce, Zöe’s Chocolate Company and the office of Mainstreet Waynesboro on Center Square.
