Saturday August 15th * 8:00 AM | Morning Bird Walk

Join the park educator as we hike along Plessinger Trail to discover what birds are waking up along the stream!

Please wear proper footwear as trail can be wet and slippery.

Bring your binoculars and meet at the Amphitheater.

Saturday August 15th * 11:00 AM | Art in the Park

Join artist Barbara Randall to create a landscape painting of the park!

All materials are provided. There is a $35 fee for the program, and registrations is required.

Sunday August 16th * 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Learning at the Beach (Every Sunday)

Come out to the beach and see what the park educator has today!

Thursday August 20th * 1:00 PM | Afternoon Overlook Hike

Join the park educator as we hike to the top of the mountain and enjoy to the view overlooking the lake!

Along the way we will learn about the different features as we get to the top! Meet at Amphitheater.

Saturday August 22nd * 10:30 AM | Hike with a DCNR Ranger!

Have a question you have always wanted to ask a ranger?

Join our park rangers as you walk around the lakeside trail and discuss various topics! Meet at Amphitheater.

Thursday August 27th * 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Homeschool Day: Stream Habitats

Homeschool and cyber school families are welcome to join park staff for a homeschool day where learning comes to life outdoors.  Lessons geared towards K-5th. Dress for the weather and please register each child attending (not yourself). Registration is required as space is limited.

Take a closer look at the life flowing through our streams. Students will learn about aquatic creatures, water quality, and how healthy streams support wildlife and our environment. We will be in the stream, please wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

Friday August 28th * 3:00 PM | History of the Cowans

Have you ever wondered how Cowans Gap got its name? Who or where it came from? Join us as we embark on a story from the past that has shaped our future to which we now call Cowans Gap State Park. At Amphitheater.

Saturday August 29th * 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Volunteer Workday

Join us for our monthly Volunteer Workday.  Projects will include work on the trails and general clean-up of the park. Go to dcnrvolunteers.pa.gov to sign up ahead of time or click on the link.
