The Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society will meet at the State Line Ruritan Building, 15481 Park Drive, located off Route 11 at the State Line, PA Community Park.

Guest speaker will be William (Bill) Stoler, a vintage car racing photographer from Greencastle, PA.

The program will be “A Look Back at the 1955 Fairchild National Sports Car Races.”

Bill will revisit the long-forgotten story of the East Coast’s largest sports car racing event of 1955.

Sponsored by the Fairchild Employees Recreation Association (FERA), the races were held on the runways of the Municipal Airport.

The event brought about 15,000 spectators and more than 200 drivers to Hagerstown.

Despite its tremendous success and popularity, the race was never held again.

The public is invited, free.
