National Trails Day | Buttonwood Nature Center, Waynesboro

June 6 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Saturday June 6th, 2026 * 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Join a Buttonwood naturalist for a guided hike in recognition of National Trails Day, an annual event sponsored by the American Hiking Society.
National Trails Day provides a chance to get outdoors, connect with your community, and enjoy outdoor activities.
The hike will be led by Mary Claire King, Buttonwood community science coordinator, educator and naturalist.
During the hike, King will stop along the way to enjoy the beauty of nature in early summer and learn about the Appalachian Trail.
“We will see the early summer local flora as we hike along the trail,” King said.
“We will also talk about the history of the Appalachian Trail, which crosses through the Old Forge area.”
The hike is open to families and all ages.
Registration is not required and the event is free—join us!
