America250PA Franklin County Bell Unveiling

September 20 – 1pm

Franklin County is celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States. Join the celebration on SEPTEMBER 20, 2025, 1:00 PM, at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center in downtown Chambersburg. Kick off celebration with the unveiling of Franklin County’s Bell Across PA, music, living history, and a birthday cake to celebrate 250 years of America.

The America250PA Franklin County Committee joined the Greencastle Old Home Week Celebration with a float to show off the progress of the Franklin County Bell Across PA. The float was accompanied by frontier, Civil War, World War II, and contemporary figures to represent the centuries of history in the county.  SAVE THE DATE to see the finished bell by Franklin County artist Andrea Finch of The Foundry.

Franklin County America250PA Parade - Coming 2026

A Best of Show prize of $250 and a Runner-up prize of $100 will be awarded in Pre-K to 5th Grade, 6th Grade to 8th Grade, 9th Grade to 12th Grade, Adult, and Mixed Ages. 

A Best of Show and Runner-up prizes will also be awarded to Veteran Groups, senior groups, and Historic Groups. As well, a Best of Community and a Runner-Up Community Prize will be awarded. The community groupings will be greater Chambersburg, greater Greencastle, greater Mercersburg, greater Fannettsbrg, greater Shippensburg, and greater Waynesboro. Finally, a Best of Show and Runner-up for entries out-of-Franklin County will be given.
Because 250 years of America is a huge milestone–a memory of a lifetime, we are supporting participation of Franklin County school bands with a stipend of $200. Each Franklin County school band, marching in the parade will receive the stipend.

PARADE ROUTE:

The parade begins at King Street and North Main,

continues onto South Main,

turns left/east on Washington Street,

turns left/north on Second Street,

and disbands on Second Street at Grant Street.

This route is similar to the Chambersburg Christmas Parade route.
