You are invited to “The Inaugural Ball of James Buchanan” for Allison-Antrim Museum’s first mystery dinner FUNdraiser.  Your goal: to gather clues from each of the characters, to be the first to solve the mystery.  There will be an introductory Act just prior to sitting down for dinner.  The actors (in period dress) portraying the characters will be divided among the tables of guests and will stay in-character for the remainder of the evening.  After dinner, there will be time to socialize, allowing guests to gather more information, in order to solve the mystery.

James Buchanan was the only U.S. President from Pennsylvania and he was born in Cove Gap, just west of Mercersburg, PA.  The Buchanan family homestead Stony Batter is now a PA State Park.  Buchanan was also the only unmarried U.S. President.  His niece, Harriett Lane, served as his First Lady.  Buchanan, a Democrat, was the President just prior to Abraham Lincoln being elected.  Buchanan graduated from Dickinson College, and prior to his presidency, he was a U.S. Senator, Representative, Secretary of State, and the minister to the United Kingdom.

Colleen Tidd and Terri Smith are writing the story and facilitating the event.   The storyline is based on a historical event – but not truth; therefore most of the characters are fictional.  One will not be able to solve the mystery by “Googling” Buchanan’s inauguration ball.

Blue Heron Events, 407 South Washington Street, Greencastle, PA  17225 will be the host for the mystery dinner, which begins at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, April 22, 2017.    The menu is: fresh spinach salad with strawberries and hot bacon dressing; eggplant parmesan; rosemary and lemon roasted chicken; butter whipped potatoes; vegetable medley; rolls, beverages, and dessert.

Tickets are $45/person and can be purchased at Allison-Antrim Museum and Blue Heron Events or online via PayPal at: www.greencastlemuseum.org/mystery.html.  PayPal permits use of credit cards for payment.  Your PayPal receipt will be your ticket.  If purchasing via PayPal, you must bring your receipt with you on Saturday, April 22.  Please RSVP by Thursday, April 13, 2017.
