The Council For The Arts, in collaboration with the Franklin County Commissioner, is excited for the start of a new public art project that will find its permanent home inside the new Franklin County Courthouse Complex

Featuring  two unique indoor murals that encompass the spirit of the local community, the locally produced art will be a celebration of Franklin County with a particular focus on the history, culture, industrial and manufacturing heritage and agriculture of the region.

The new Courthouse complex is not only an important addition to the Franklin County infrastructure and the inclusion of local artists work presents an exciting opportunity to continue the momentum of the cultural evolution of Franklin County.

To achieve this, The Council For The Arts will work collaboratively with local artists, blending their talents and passions to create unique artworks to be displayed within the newly built courthouse building.

To ensure a wide variety of representation across Franklin County artists, all creatives who live, work, or who are from the region can apply to participate in the project by creating a rough concept design or sketch of their proposed art work depicting one of the themes being included in the project. Around 20 designs will be selected and each artist will then paint their work on panels approximately 2ft by 3ft in size that will then be put together with the others to create a larger “collage” style mural.

The second mural will be a design developed by the Council For The Arts creative team and representative of the works of all the artists involved.

This is a paid opportunity for accepted artists. The deadline for artists to apply is AUGUST 15th
