Winter EXPLORE! Nature’s Valentines, The Institute

In addition to listening to a nature storybook, Love Matters Most, by Mij Kelly and Gerry Turley, students will learn some fun facts about bears, go on a ‘heart hike’ (searching for hearts in nature), and look for animals’ winter homes.
If there is snow, children will make a snow cake and decorate it with items found in nature.

Location:Pine Hill Recreation Area
COVID protocols in accordance with CDC and PA DOH guidelines will be followed.
Masks are not required for outdoor activities, but are recommended when appropriate distancing (3 feet) is not possible.

EXPLORE! Nature Seekers, The Institute

Thursday March 11th, 2021 * 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
In addition to listening to a nature story book, students will go on a discovery hike searching for natural treasures and shapes found in nature and make a plant/seed garland for the birds.

EXPLORE! Terrific Trees of Winter, The Institute

Thursday March 18th * 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The group will take a hike to identify trees at Red Run Park, make Play-Doh molds of leaves and bark, discover how to tell the age of treesby looking at ‘tree cookies’ (cross sections), and learn about tapping trees for maple syrup.
A storybook will accompany the syrup portion.
