Spring is here! The days are warming up, flowers are beginning to bloom, and it is the perfect time to get out and explore one of Franklin County’s many trails. Hop in your car, roll the windows down, and prepare to travel back in time to experience colonial life at early American forts and settlements on the Frontier Franklin County Driving Tour. Or explore military history from the pre-Revolutionary period to the present day on the self-guided Franklin County Military Trail of History Tour.

Downtown walking tours for each of the five communities that make up Franklin County (Chambersburg, Greencastle, Mercersburg, Shippensburg, and Waynesboro) are also available. Each community’s downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers charming main streets just waiting to be experienced. For those looking for a more active adventure, try the Biking Tour of French & Indian War sites in Southwest Franklin County or the South Mountain Road to Freedom Hike on a piece of the Appalachian Trail.
