The Franklin County Historic Letterkenny Chapel and 9/11 Memorial Park will be holding events open to the public as a remembrance of the events that occurred on September 11th, 2001.
On August 30, 2026 a “Hero’s Car show” will be held on the Chapel grounds from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to honor all emergency responders and military personnel. There will be food, ice cream and drinks and family attractions; as well as 30 trophy classes of vehicles! A SHORT Opening Program will be held at noon on 8/30. This event is a “free to the spectator public” event.

On September 11. 2026 A memorial service will be held in the Chapel from 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM with the Reverend Renata Mosely Harper and Chaplain Hart serving as spiritual leaders.
Chapel tours are available both days and are free to the public. On August 30th the Chapel, which is one of only 4 existing Italian POW built Chapels in the world, will be open for tours 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spectator entrance to all events is free. Take advantage of a chapel tour, have some contemplative reflection as you view the 9/11 memorial constructed using twisted pieces of the World Trade Center steel girders and stroll through the beautiful historic Veterans park commemorating local military participation throughout the years.
