The magnificent, large stone and brick property on the southwest side of Mercersburs’s square is Stoner’s Mansion House. The oldest portion dates back to the 1790s. But, don’t let the age fool you. There’s always something happening at the Mansion House. Saturdays are known for an array of local and regional musicians. Upcoming are:
Saturday, August 29, 8 PM – Zoey Wolfe – performs acoustics sets in many genres
Saturday, September 5, 8 PM – Withered – high energy rock with a heavy twist
Saturday, September 19, 8 PM – Generations Apart – covering retro classics of the 1960s to modern pop-rock
Saturday, September 26, 8 PM – Parks & Rhone – acoustic rock sets; a little alternative
Saturday, October 3, 8 PM – Austin Nemith – an Americana sound rooted in folk, country, bluegrass, even a little funk
The Mansion House is a multi-story building approaching 20,000 sq. ft. that served as a tavern house and later housed students of Marshal College, a predecessor of the educational institution that is today Mercersburg Academy. It sits at the center of the historic district of Mercersburg. Find out more with a walk of Historic Mercersburg here.
