Celebrate the end of summer at the Conococheague Institute with a day of themed programming.
We’ll be combining the best of our historic programs with new nature themed activities with hands on crafts and learning for all ages.
Free Admission, Donations Appreciated
A Day full of fun filled activities including
  • Birding and Botany Nature walks – follow in the footsteps of naturalist Bartram and learn about the new frontier ecosystem
  • The Art of Dye – Use natural dyes gathered at CI and make your own resist dyed handkerchief
  • Conservation Crafts – Learn how we can protect the environment through conservation while making fun useful crafts with what nature provides
  • The Kitchen Garden – lend a hand in harvesting, or sowing the next crop

SUMMER, FALL & WINTER “SOAR” Bird Walks – The Institute

Saturday April 3rd * 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
SOAR (“Studying Ornithology Around the Region”) resumed in 2021.
IMPORTANT: Locations for the SOAR bird walks will now vary, effective immediately.
The walks will occur at different natural areas throughout the local region. (see below)

Please print, sign and bring the Guidelines Waiver form along with you to the walk.
After a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, First and third Saturday summer, fall and winter bird walks have resumed.
Birding enthusiasts Sharon and Larry Williams of Waynesboro will lead the walks along the hiking trails at varying locations throughout the summer, fall and winter.
Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and may bring identification books and binoculars. Free and open to the public.
Please Note: 2021 Bird Walks are conducted in compliance with Covid-19 safety guidelines, including:
• Groups no larger than 12
• Participants will sign in & complete a waiver/contact form (available HERE)
• Social distancing must be practiced
• Face masks are mandatory at all times, even when appropriately distanced, until further notice.
